On October 21, 2024, the training for young environmental journalists, took place in Luangprabang, came to the last day.

Before our young environmental journalists returned to Vientiane, they had the opportunity to meet with representatives from the state sector, including the Luangprabang Provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Luangprabang City Department of Natural Resources, Ngoi District, and Chomphet District.

These representatives honored us by participating in discussions and presentations about the current situation of waste management in Luangprabang Province. Each district shared their unique approaches, which included environmental activities in cultural festivals, composting, collaborations with business units, especially the service and tourism sectors, to promote environmentally friendly practices. Additionally, there are joint projects with international partners to manage waste within the city.

After the presentations, our young participants had the opportunity to engage in a Q&A session with representatives from each sector in order to foster a better understanding of waste management. Later, our young journalists visited the KM 08 landfill to learn more about how the city manages the landfill, collect waste and conduct the sorting process.
